Need info on a broker based in Singapore

Hello, Iā€™ve been contacted by a broker in Singapore.

His name : Derwent Investments

His website : derwentinv.com

Can I trust him ?

Thanks for your answer.

Olivier

Hi Olivier,

Thanks for your message. In general, being contacted by brokers out of the blue and them being pushy can be major warning signs of scams.

In addition, Iā€™ve also looked into Derwent Investments and I couldnā€™t find much reliable information about the company or the website you mentioned (derwentinv.com). It seems like Derwent Investments is not regulated by any financial authority. Also, the terms and conditions and privacy policy provided on their website is suspiciously short. This lack of information and transparency is another red flag.

To be safe, I recommend sticking with well-known, regulated brokers. You can find reliable and regulated brokers here: https://brokerchooser.com/broker-reviews.

Please let me know if you need more help!

Best wishes,
Andris

I was also contacted by them. Before investing I asked my friend in London to go to their office. He couldnā€™t locate any office in the building provided on the website. Even their office in Luxemburg could not be located. Very suspicious. So I didnā€™t invest with them.

Hi,

This is typical behavior of scammersā€”they often use fake addresses or claim to have offices in prestigious locations, which donā€™t actually exist. Iā€™m really glad you took the precautionary step of having your friend check their office. Itā€™s something I advise everyone to do when in doubt. Itā€™s always best to be cautious, and avoiding investment with them was definitely the right decision.

Let me know if you need any further assistance!

Best regards,
Andris

I was also contacted by Derwent Investments. Unfortunately I did not do and security check prior to investing. Since then things have gone south. What options do I have to recover my money?

JJ

Hi JJ,

Iā€™m sorry to hear youā€™re experiencing this with Derwent Investments. Unfortunately, the recovery of funds from scam brokers is an extremely complex procedure and chances of success are rather low.

However, there are some steps you can take to improve your chances.
You might start by reviewing this article weā€™ve put together, which provides a few options for attempting fund recovery: https://brokerchooser.com/forex/regulation/scams#how-to-recover-your-funds-when-scammed.

A few initial recommendations:

  1. Report the scam to the financial regulatory authority in your country, as they oversee financial conduct for forex and investment companies.
  2. Gather all relevant evidence of your transactions and communications. This includes:
  • Screenshots of any deposits made and any attempts to withdraw.
  • Copies of all correspondence with Derwent Investmentsā€™ customer support.
  • Recordings (if possible) of conversations with their representatives.
  • Account statements proving that funds werenā€™t credited or transferred as promised.

Also, please be careful with companies offering to get your money back. There are many scams that offer asset recovery services.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
Andris

i dont understand how they get featured on yahoo finance if they are not legit.Derwent Investments AI Start-up Revenue Generation Superior to Earlier Software Companies

Hey,

Itā€™s a good question. Basically, false claims about a scam broker can appear on Yahoo Finance if they are part of sponsored content (paid advertisements) or user-generated posts on message boards. Yahoo Finance aggregates content from various sources and does not independently verify all claims, especially in ads or community discussions. So please always cross-check such information with official regulatory sources.

In this specific case, if you take a look at the article featured on Yahoo Financeā€™s website about Derwent Investments, you can see that the source of the article is actually Derwent Investments itself. This suggests that information they provide is not verified by anyone.

I hope this helps.

Best,
Andris
