First time investing in ETFs

Hi,

Iโ€™m a beginner in this world of trading.

Recently I watched some videos about how to invest in ETFs using Trade Republic, Mexem and Freedom24. I want to diversify my wallet of investment.

As I learned, the best options for ETFs are the ones with the following characteristics.-

  • Permanent wallet.
  • Accumulative ETFs are the best ones.
  • Itโ€™s recommended to use direct ETFs.
  • And itโ€™s recommended to use ETFs with Global Variable Rent Index.

Also, I came up with the following ETFs (based on the recommendations I saw on the videos I mentioned).-

  • ETF SPDR MSCI ACWI IMI: IE00B3YLTY66 (Unhedged Acc).
  • Permament wallet.-
    • IE00B3FH7618 - iShares Euro Government Bond 0-1yr UCITS ETF.
    • IE00B4ND3602 - iShares Physical Gold ETC.
    • IE00B6R52259 - iShares MSCI ACWI UCITS ETF (Acc).
  • 60/40 wallet.-
    • IE00B6R52259 - iShares MSCI ACWI UCITS ETF (Acc).
    • IE00BDBRDM35 - iShares Core Global Aggregate Bond UCITS ETF EUR Hedged (Acc).
  • S&P 500.-
    • IE00B5BMR087 - iShares Core S&P 500 UCITS ETF (Acc).

My questions are.-

  • Which ETFs are the best ones to invest in? Which ones have better commissions?
  • Which broker can I use to start investing in ETFs? Which ones charge less commissions by account management? At the moment Iโ€™ve created an account on Trade Republic and I tried to do the same on Mexem (but this one requested me more years of experience as an investor).
  • How can I withdraw the money from the ETF?
  • Can you offer some personalized guidance on financial advising and taxation?

Thanks in advance for your help. Have a great day!

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us! We at BrokerChooser focus on reviewing and comparing brokerages to help you find the best platform for your needs. However, we cannot provide personalized investment advice or guidance on taxation. If youโ€™re looking for brokers to trade ETFs, you can check out our list of the best brokers for ETFs (including commissions) here: https://brokerchooser.com/best-brokers/best-etf-brokers.

Regarding your question about withdrawing money from an ETF, you would need to sell the ETF on the market first. Once the sale is completed, the funds will be available in your trading account, from which you can withdraw them. Keep in mind that, depending on your country of residence, you will likely be subject to capital income tax on any gains from the sale.

If you have further questions about brokers or trading platforms, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your response.

Is it possible to transfer investments from one broker to another? For example, an ETF investment made from TradeRepublic to MEXEM.

Hey,

Yes, it is generally possible to transfer securities, such as ETFs, from one broker to another. However, the process can vary depending on the brokers involved. In case of MEXEM, I found the following guide which can help you in with the process: Transfers. But generally speaking, asset transfers typically involve the following steps:

  1. First, verify with both brokers whether they support direct transfers of securities like ETFs between accounts.
  2. To begin the process, you would usually need to contact your new broker (MEXEM) to request the transfer. They will provide instructions on how to proceed. In some cases, the original broker (TradeRepublic) may need to be involved to approve or facilitate the transfer.
  3. Consider Costs. Some brokers may charge fees for transferring assets, and the process could take several days or even weeks. Make sure to ask both brokers about any transfer fees and the expected timeline.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Best regards,
Andris
