I have a GIA / trading account with Interactive Investor. Considering transferring to Interactive Brokers.
Is this a straightforward process / how does it work?
Googling I can only find info on transferring the opposite way.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
thank you for your email. First of all, we have experience with account transfer from DEGIRO to Interactive Brokers. That process was not so easy and user-friendly. We saw that this process is not easy for most brokers.
The process at DEGIRO to IBKR transfer looked as the following:
Sent an outgoing transfer form to DEGIRO on email. There was a €20 per position fee charged here. This part is different at Interactive Investor I think, you might send a different form.
Open an Interactive Brokers Account and go “Transfer & Pay” section and select “Transfer Positions”, as screenshot below
Select “All Other region” as a region
You will get a quick overview of the process. Click on “Select”
Then add “Interactive Investor” and add your account details.
Upload a CSV with your assets or add them manually.
Lastly, click on “Continue”
After this, the process can take a few days or a few weeks. We had some issues and it took almost 1 month with a lot of email discussions with IBKR and DEGIRO.
I haven’t found any info on what form you should submit to Interactive Investor, so I’d recommend sending a secure message to them to ask it.
If you have any further questions, let me know.
Best,
Adam
