Finding if an apparently secure brokers website is not a clone?

I have a trader, and apparently a trading account, with reputable DukasCopy. How can I check that the website is not a real time copy, and genuine

Hey there,

Thanks for your message.

First of all, make sure that the website’s URL is correct. The official Dukascopy website is www.dukascopy.com . Look for subtle misspellings or additional characters in the URL, which can indicate a fraudulent site.

Secondly, verify that the website has a secure connection. Check for a padlock icon in the address bar and ensure the URL begins with “https://.” This indicates that the website has an SSL certificate, which is essential for protecting your data.

Thirdly, check if the content on the website is the same as on the real https://www.dukascopy.com. For example, check whether the footer is the same and contains a CFD risk warning and all the other data.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best wishes,
Andris

Thank you very much, Andris. I discovered that the site I had and the account were indeed not on an official DUKASCOPY site. So I have now been defrauded. I am not very sure who to approach about this next.
John

Hi John,

I am sorry to hear that you’ve been caught up in this situation. Unfortunately, the recovery of funds from scam brokers is an extremely complex procedure and chances of success are rather low.

I would recommend checking the following article where we collected a few things you can try to get your funds back: https://brokerchooser.com/forex/regulation/scams#how-to-recover-your-funds-when-scammed.

To start with, you should report the scam to the appropriate authority, which is the financial regulatory body in your country that supervises forex companies.

In addition, I would recommend collecting as much evidence as possible. These should include the following:

  • Screenshots of deposits being made to the account and requests for withdrawal.
  • Screenshots of correspondence with customer support.
  • Recordings of the conversations with the broker’s customer support.
  • Account statements proving that the money was not credited within the specified period.

Also, please be careful with companies offering to get your money back. There are many scams that offer asset recovery services.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best regards,
Andris
