Can I open TBSZ on IBKR Global Trader

Hey,

I would like to open a TBSZ account (Hungaran TAX-advantaged investment account). I use Global Trader for IBKR. How can I open a TBSZ? Thanks

Hey there, yes, you can open TBSZ by following these steps:

  • Log into the Client Portal platform (same credentials as Global Trader app credentials) and click on “Settings”, as per the screenshot below

  • Click on “Open an Additional Account”, as per the screenshot below

  • Lastly, click on “Individual acconuts” and select TBSZ account

Please note it will take some time until your TBSZ account is approved. In addition, you have to open a new TBSZ account every year (as per the TBSZ regulation in Hungary).

Thanks a lot Adam! This is super helpful. Can the TBSZ be a EUR or a USD based one? If I would like both, is it 2 separete TBSZs, or I can have USD and EUR assets on the same TBSZ?

When you open a TBSZ, the account base currency will be HUF, you can’t change that. This only means that the reports and the portfolio value will be presented in HUF.

On the other hand, you can put EUR or USD into TBSZ. You can also buy EUR or USD-based assets there.
